      <title>If you could design a school, what would it be like?</title>

&lt;p&gt;The short version?  It would be a &amp;quot;community service school&amp;quot; that combined a service group like Peace Corps or Americorps with a school.&amp;nbsp; Students would learn by doing, and really be involved in their communities, rather than imprisoned in boring and lifeless classrooms all the time.&amp;nbsp; And students would be compensated for their contributions to the programs, so that they understand that their efforts are appreciated and meaningful to the community.&amp;nbsp; The individual class-programs would be open to anyone at any level, students would be free to choose which programs to participate in, and everyone would be encouraged to learn and grow in a healthy way - at their own pace.&amp;nbsp; And the schools would be as self-sufficient as possible, growing and preparing it&amp;#39;s own food, building it&amp;#39;s own buildings, installing sustainable energy systems, and charging non-profit fees for the services that the class-programs provide to the community and private industry.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The motto would be &amp;quot;Real learning for Real life, making a Real difference in the Real world&amp;quot; or something...&lt;/p&gt;
